“The Lord make his face to shine upon you, and be gracious to you.”
This familiar blessing has long been used by the church. God commanded Aaron, the brother of Moses, to bless the people as they left Mount Sinai and continue journeying through the wilderness to the promise land. It is a blessing for the journey.
How appropiate that we often receive this blessing at the end of worship! We are sent out to begin a new week, a new journey, and God promises to bless us, to keep us, and to make God’s face shine upon us. May you see and know the blessing of God this week.
O God, every blessing comes from your abounding love. Walk with me into this new day. AMEN
