Everyone,
May the Peace of Christ be with you. We hope this finds you well.
Here is the plan for worship on Sunday, March 22:
- We will livestream worship in English at 10 AM. You can view the livestream on our Facebook Page, https://www.facebook.com/StJamesChurchELCA/, and church website, www.stjames.ch/facebook-live/
- We will livestream worship in Spanish at 12 Noon. You can view the livestream on our Facebook Page, https://www.facebook.com/StJamesChurchELCA/, and church website, https://stjames.ch/facebook-live/.
- Pastor Jim McGill from Hope Episcopal Church (across the street) has kindly invited us to share Holy Communion with his congregation. We will do this at 1 PM on Sunday. All of our congregational members, family, friends, and neighbors are invited to drive in their cars to Hope Episcopal, 1613 W 43rd St, Houston, TX 77018, to receive Holy Communion in your car at 1 PM on Sunday. Drive to the front circular drive of the church. Line up on Chantilly Lane, if necessary. Each car will drive through one at a time. Please remain in your car. Pastors will take turns distributing Communion (and washing and sanitizing their hands between each car in line). We hope you can join us to receive Communion at 1 PM in your car.
- After receiving Communion, everyone is invited to drive across the street to the St. James parking lot to receive a grocery bag of donated food from MANNA, including canned vegetables, beans, rice, and a generous donation of ground beef from Ruby Cattle Company. Please form a line and remain in your cars. We will bring the groceries to you.
Please remember that all participants should thoroughly wash their hands before leaving home.
We invite you to say this Prayer of Thanksgiving in your car after receiving communion and food:
Lord Jesus Christ, we thank you for feeding us with your own Body, and for accepting us as your own Family. Let this communion strengthen our souls and our spirits, that we might reach out to the world in your Name. Let us who receive this communion be one body, one family in you, that we may love others as you have loved us; for we pray this in your holy Name. Amen.
Then, go in peace to love and serve the Lord.
This is a great opportunity to share—and be—the Body of Christ for one another. Please join us.
Peace and Blessings,
Pastors Arthur Murphy and Jhon Jairo Arroyave
